Privacy Policy
Effective 5 October 2026. Your privacy matters. This policy describes what we collect and how we use it. We aim to collect only what the features need.
1. Who we are
Snoots is a social and lost-pet network for pet owners, operated by Petworld Ltd (“Snoots”, “we”, “us”). This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, and your rights over it. Questions: [email protected].
2. Data we collect
- Account: your name, email, phone number if you sign in by text message, and (if you choose) a profile photo.
- Pets: names, photos, breed, age, weight, activity, and any health notes, conditions, vet details, food and expenses you add.
- Location: your phone's GPS route is recorded only while a walk you started is running, including with the screen locked so the walk keeps recording. When no walk is running, the app uses your location to show nearby parks, pets and alerts; it's used for those lookups and not stored. We do save park check-ins you make and, if you set one, your home location (for walk auto-stop).
- GPS tracker: if you link a Snoots tracker to your pet, we store its positions, battery level and activity so you can find your pet and see their activity. While you're on a walk, your phone records the walk and the tracker rests.
- Content: posts, photos, videos and messages you create.
- Usage & device: which days you used the app and on which platform, how you heard about Snoots (if you tell us) and the link that brought you in, your device's push-notification token, and technical logs needed to run and secure the service.
3. How we use it
To provide the core features — your pet profiles, walks, the map of nearby pets and parks, lost-pet alerts, family sharing, walker bookings, and social feed — and to keep the service safe and working. Health and activity data also power the in-app wellness insights, which are general guidance only and are never a substitute for a vet.
4. AI features
Some features (wellness advice, the in-app help assistant, expense categorisation) send the relevant text — e.g. a pet’s breed, activity and any conditions you’ve entered — to our AI provider (Anthropic) to generate a response. This text is processed to produce your result and is not used to train their models. We don’t send your identity with it.
5. When we share data
- People you choose: family members you invite, petmates you connect with, and walkers/sitters you book.
- Visibility you set: posts and live location follow the audience you pick (public, petmates, or private/ghost). Live location is only shared inside mapped parks.
- Service providers who run the app on our behalf: hosting (Hetzner), image/file storage and website (Cloudflare), maps and place search (MapTiler, Google Places), tracker positioning from cell/Wi-Fi signals (Google Geolocation), email (Resend), text-message sign-in codes (Twilio), push notifications (Apple, Google Firebase, Expo), and the AI provider above. They process data only to provide their service to us.
We never sell your personal data.
6. Lost-pet reports
If you report a pet lost, the report — including the last-seen location — may be shown to nearby users so they can help. Only report a pet as lost when you want that information shared.
7. Retention
We keep your data while your account is active. You can delete content at any time. When you delete your account it is deactivated straight away and permanently deleted after 30 days (you can change your mind until then). Deletion removes your profile, your pets, their walks, photos and messages. Walks you did as a walker for someone else's dog, and photos you added to someone else's dog, stay with that dog's owner without your name. Backups cycle out within 14 days.
8. Your rights
You can access, correct, export or delete your data from Settings (“Export my data” and “Delete account”), or by emailing [email protected]. If you’re in the UK/EU you have rights under UK GDPR, including the right to complain to the ICO.
9. Children
Snoots is not directed at children under 16. We don’t knowingly collect their data; contact us if you believe a child has registered.
10. Changes
We’ll update this policy as the app evolves and note the effective date above. Material changes will be highlighted in the app.
